Don’t criticize, condemn or complain
Rule no:1 on reading
Always reread, make notes, highlights, review. Reading once = reading for entertainment.
Following David’s Advice, I printed How to Win Friends & Influence People
and read it. I must say, it’s one hell of a book and I’m on part one.
I’m going to share the things I’ve highlight in part 1 tonight
- A criminal won’t blame himself for anything.
- Critism is futile dangerous, makes people defensive, makes people want to justify themselves, hurt another’s pride, sense of importance and lastly, arouses resentment.
- An employer asked, remind in a pleasant tone and suggested his employee to wear safety hats have more positive results and no negative ones than order with authority.
- Don’t criticize them; they are just what we would be under similar circumstances.
- A letter of rebuke relieve the anger and frustration, but it justify the person, make him condemn me, arouse hard feelings, impair his usefulness and perhaps cause resignation.
- Just let us indulge in a little stinging criticism no matter how certain we are that it is justified.
- any fool can criticize, condemn and complain but it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving.
- Pilot to an engineer who used the wrong fuel, by putting his big arm around the man’s shoulder “To show you I’m sure that you’ll never do this again, I want you to service my F-51 tomorrow.”
- Don’t criticize, condemn or complain.
